Delmar Oyos (SP) -- BA #24 -- 21 years old -- 14th overall pick in 1978
Makes his BLB Debut (barring injury in the next two SIMS) on Monday, August 31st against division rival Washington. I was going to try to hold him back, but he wants to pitch in the Show. I'm going to give him a chance to come up and show what he has.
EDIT: Because of the 8-day sim, we'll move Oyos' debut back to September 1st. He has thrown his last game at AAA.
EDIT #2: For some reason, he got an inning of work in AAA, so he's 85%. So debut is bumped to Wednesday Sep 2nd... still against Washington.
Tessai MacArthur (SP) -- BA #13 -- 21 years old - 19th overall pick in 1978
Made his debut this past sim. 6IP, 4H, 1ER, 5BB, 5K, in a 4-1 win against California. Although he had five walks, one was intentional, and he proved he can get out of jams.
In the 6th inning, with a 3-0 lead, Tessai ran into trouble. First hitter doubled, second hitter was intentionally walked. Next batter, single. Bases loaded, no outs, three run lead. Next batter, strikes out swinging. Next batter grounds out into a fielders choice and one run scores. Next batter walks. Next batter flies out.
Wilmington Wildcats- 2057- Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041 Washington Bats - 1979-2013
Ok, so he's not listed among the top prospects by BA, nor are his ratings all that impressive. But, Cashan has pitched very well at AA and AAA, being used in every role imaginable in his minor league career, even winning the 1980 AAA Pitcher of the Year in the IL. Made his debut this sim, though he only threw 0.1 IP in his first game. For the week, however his numbers were:
5.1 IP, 0 Hits, 0 BB, 4 K
A perfect week to start Cashan's BLB career, hopefully he keeps up the good play.
R.A. Grounds (2B) -- BA #20 -- 23 years old - 10th overall pick in 1980
He has only played in 27 games at AAA, but he is making it hard for me to not call him up. In 1980 in A ball he hit .302 with a .739 OPS. This year at AA he hit .325 with a .867 OPS. So far in AAA he is hitting .343 with a .753 OPS. The only thing that scares me about calling him up is that he only has two extra base hits thus far at AAA. If he can show a bit of power here in the next sim or two, he should be up at the big league level before years end.
Expected debut: September 7th, @ Windy City
Edit: Just saw that he is hitting .380 on the road in AAA. He might be up before September 7th...

SP Danny Wombwell will make his BLB debut August 29th against the Washington Bats. Wombwell was acquired from Sin City in a package that sent SP Joe O'Connelan to the Gamblers. He was 4-0 in 4 AA starts with a 0.27 ERA before being promoted to AAA Memphis. There, Wombwell went 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA in 21 starts. He'll replace SP Joe Soto, who has had a rough July and August, and has seen his ERA blossom to 4.78. Wilmington GM Chris Sullivan had several quality candidates at the AAA level to choose from, but decided to go with the most promising pitching over a couple others with better statistics.
Although technically his BLB debut was last September for a cup of coffee, his first real BLB action will be this September when he will start the remainder of the month at third base. Howard is hitting .328 at AAA Silver City with nearly a 30.0 VORP.
Update: Dylan Howard hit .357 last week (5-14) with 2 2Bs and a HR. He slugged .714 and had a 1.071 OPS. It looks like 3B is his position to lose going into next season.
Ed Colville (SP)
Last year's DLAAA Outstanding Pitcher of the Year winner finally gets the call-up after an incredible two year stretch of dominating the AAA competition. He's an interesting case because his ratings aren't overly impressive and he was one of the puzzling 20/20 overall rated players whose performance doesn't match up with his ratings.
Update: Colville's line in his BLB debut -- 8 IP/5 Hits/3 ER/7 K. He left the game leading 5-4 only to see the Los Alamos bullpen blow the save and stick him with the ND. It was a promising first start though and hopefully the start of great BLB career. He also recently shot up to the #46 prospect in the Baseball America Top 100 Prospects.
I actually just wrote an article about Colville, he was one of my pet players with the Los Lunas minor league system, hope you enjoy it when it gets posted.

I can't wait for his first start.
PS- Damn you Robby for trading him!
I wasn't going to protect him, and I didn't want you to draft him :).
After dominating in the minors for years, Erik finally got the call. He's now the everyday CF for Los Lunas. In 19 games, he's hit .328/.343. He is a better fit at RF or LF, but out of necessity he's learning CF as we go.
C Fernando Qutez
Last year's first round pick, Fernando has shot through the minors in a year and a half. We think he's just about ready for the bigs after posting .339/.381 in his stint at AAA. Fernando will bring a much needed defensive catcher to the BLB club. He'll start September sharing time with O'Hamill behind the plate, but depending on his performance he may be starting there before the season ends.
(Hopefully next year I'll have actual minor league uniforms.)

Complete game, six hits, no walks, three runs. The rich get richer.

Well beyond my expectations. I'm hoping I've found someone to rely on in that 5th starting spot.

Delmar finally made his BLB debut...
6.0 innings
7 hits
3 ER
4 BB
4 K
10 Groundball - 4 Flyball Outs
Lost 4-0
Not bad for a debut. Would have liked to see more. We'll see how September plays out to see if he'll stick with the big club.

#10 Organizational Prospect - Brad Talbert (1B) - saw his first action as well as a defensive sub. He is yet to register a BLB at bat.

As expected, Grounds makes his debut tonight.
