  • BLB "What If..." #1

Trying to generate some more between SIM chatter. Thought we'd try some of these...

    SCENARIO

WHAT IF...All 24 teams are up for grabs in their current state (organizationally). We're drafting for teams and the only rule is you can't own a team that you've already owned. You have the 1st pick. Who do you take and why?

    Definitely Hyundai.

They've had (arguably) the two best left-handed hitters the league has every seen, yet they have been nothing short of horrendous for a while(no fault of Jimmy's...yet).
They've got a deep minor league system and I would love to get to the DL where anyone and everyone has a chance to make it to the Brewmasters' now that AnStu is gone (its always Z's fault).

Morgantown. I'm a glutton for punishment. I'd like to be at the helm when they rise to the top of that division. They very closely mimic my MLB rooting interests in the same way the Rangers were just awful for so long with no modicum of success until finally rising to the top of the baseball world (well, almost the top before suffering gastrointestinal distress in front of the entire world).

M'town is the team I'd want to pick...but I'd probably stay out of the Stout. Gotta pick a DL team...still choosing between 3.

I think my DL squad would probably be Syracuse. I'm so familiar with their system already since Jake and I talk trade all the time.

My IL team would have to be Wilmington. Tons of young pitching. Just a couple of bats and a little time away. (provided Virginia dies).

The DL team would have to be Indianapolis. Great young pitching. Two solid drafts and he's back in it in 3-4 seasons.

I would probably go to the DL so I could have a DH.

Whichever franchise was in the worst shape at the time.

This is why people didn't want incentives.

Clay gives us a hypothetical scenario to own an up and coming team and people say: I want to rebuild the loser.

I agree., I think if you don't have a Championship ring, you shouldn't be picking a team to 'rebuild.'

I agree. That's why if I win with Batavia I'll have the SGN Triple Crown. Clay and I are fighting for that one...the rest of you suckers can only dream.

I never realized you had 2 OSFL titles. I gotta get crackin'.

No one cares about the OSFL or NCFA anymore.

Considering the OSFL is full and the NCFA has 20 owners I'd beg to differ.

Just because you weren't given the gift of an inaugural draft super team, a $100 mil budget, and the ability to be an original owner that can fleece the rest of the new owners as they come along in those leagues...don't knock what you can't build!

                              Boom.
