It's pretty much just me taking a flyer on a guy I see some things in. My board wasn't stacked with players I really like.
You've been peeking at my board haven't you?

Are you a fan of Wolochow? He's not on the top of my scout's board, I kind of dug down a bit to get to him.

I do feel kind of gross picking an international. I'll have to be sure to go back to the feeders.

Yea. Hoping he fell a little further though. I'm not a fan of lazies for a 4th round pick.

            • In the round just before true barrel-scraping begins we had three picks:

              #91 Overall:
              Tillmao Lenaerts (CL)

-Keeping with our theme of drafting international players, we selected Tillmao out of Venezuela. Listed as 21 years old, we wonder if the misread his birth certificate because he looks 31. Well developed I'd expect Tillmao to start in AA ball. He may never be quite good enough to make the league, although he's got a good fastball and an adequate change-up. However, he was rated the hardest worker in this year's draft, so I expect Tillmao will do just enough to become at least, a serviceable BLB player.

              #97 Overall:
              Caetano Ramo (MR)

-Caetano is the first feeder league player we selected this year, but he is originally from Brazil which "technically" allows us to be 5/5 on international picks so far this year. Caetano comes with the normal prerequisite for Baltimore reliever draftees: real heat. Unfortunately this usually is coupled with a lack of control, and Caetano is no different at this point in his career.

Caetano has been clocked at 101 mph and leaves Texas as their career strike-out leader with 309. He was the #7 reliever (potential) in the draft according to OSA and #3 according to my scout.

              #99 Overall:
              Italo Ghezzi (IF)

-Italo Ghezzi makes us 6/6 for international picks and surprisingly he is from Italy (Italo from Italy?). Every year, I try to make sure that I pick at least one guy that I don't like but my scout does. He was a top 60 pick according to my scout's draft list and he was the only positional player left that warranted anything more than a 9th round selection. He's a good defender and a pretty good leader, but other than that nothing special. Well, he did pitch (not very well), but that's probably not an option over here in the States. If he does somehow make it to the bigs, I'd be pleasantly surprised if he's earns anything more than a platoon role against lefties.

                  • Two picks I liked:

                    Clowns: Joeng-beom Sohn
                    Bats: Brendan Tennant

I really like Tennant's improvement in his senior season at OK State. Shows a bit of promise that he may have finally put his talent to good use.

Sohn, another international, I'm a sucker for scarily, good HS numbers even if they did play overseas. I think HS success is HS success pretty much anywhere in the world. Good job, Clown.

                    • The Tobs have selected SS Shane Buchalski in the 5th round. Meh.

If anyone is interested in trading for any of my remaining picks, go ahead and let me know. Won't cost much. Something in next year's draft maybe. Let me know.

Yeah, didn't expect him to be there when my pick came, so glad to get him. Really curious to see how he turns out.

                          • My last pick for awhile and I spent it on SP C.J. Knuckles.

Think he might be AAAA type... maybe borderline eventually.... but... had to take him because of the name.

                            • Took MR-Oscar de Leon. This young, hard working MR will be working in the field of our minors instead of the coccaine fields like his brothers. We are giving kids a chance in Hyundai. Not much of one, but its the thought that counts.

Saw your pick and wondered how much his name figured into you picking him. Nice.
