For the 2nd year in a row my #1 guy fell to me...I'm not sure if that is good or not.
Once again we go international with the selection of Gabriele Clareno.
Gabriele Clareno
My scout thinks he's an elite hitting prospect with power to all fields, who can also run and play defense. Time will tell.

I liked Clareno. He was #7 on my scout's list, so that he was the best available going by that.
I'm still looking to move back into the first round (say, 23rd or higher). I could give up some 2nd rounders, of which I have 4. I could give up a prospect. I have a few of those.Washington Bats, 2013-

Ajello is either going to be a great hitter or a huge bust. Really no in between. He was the #2 position player on my scout's board though and has performed well against "great" competition, so we shall see. I'm a little confused by his running ratings and he has no power, but whatever.SIN CITY GAMBLERS since 1990

SOOOOOO shocked to get the guy that was #1 on my board.
If I had successfully traded into 1.1, I would have taken him with Knudson at 1 and 2.
Effrain "Gadget" Grain is a Colonial through and through. He fits what we do perfectly.
Worst case scenerio.... he never gets that 3rd pitch and becomes our BLB Closer within 3 seasons.
Best case.... he finds the 3rd and adds another ridiculous K/BB stud to our rotation.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this guy.The Great One!

Really regretting trading up to 1.6. The way my board is developing, I would have been better off with a couple extra seconds and maybe Quinn/Reber instead of Skinner without the picks.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

I like him. He's a reliever, since I don't think there's any way to predict who is going to add a 3rd pitch. If he does, awesome. He's a complete steal. If he doesn't, then he's a really good reliever.
I'm not sure he's more likely to gain a 3rd pitch than any of the other relievers in this draft. It seems completely random and very rare.
#1 is a huge reach for a reliever.Washington Bats, 2013-

If I didn't already have a good young bullpen, I would have looked hard at Gray (not sure who Grain is). My scout thought he was the 2nd best player in the draft behind the Gargoyle. I just hate taking relievers in the first round of drafts unless it's a HUGE, and immediate, organizational need.SIN CITY GAMBLERS since 1990

Plus... come on.... Nicknames FTW.
And how much cooler would he be if his name were Effrain Grain?
