Yes, generally you want to look at work ethic and intelligence...or, as I prefer, random prayer.

      Yes.

Randomly and Rarely. I've had two pitchers in 11 years of the BLB learn a pitch. Supposedly, its High Work Ethic and/or Intelligence.

Put it mildly, dont waste your first round pick on a guy you WANT as a starter and HOPE he learns a third pitch. Best to gamble later in draft (3rd round beyond)

Says the GM who has admitted struggling to find capable pitchers for his roster.

            1) Yes I had to TRADE for pitching. Just wasn't here when I arrived. Overall though happy with my staff (3rd overall but it is only May)

            2) Go ahead and let him draft a guy with 2 pitches cuz the odds of a guy picking up a third pitch is very favorable and gambling with your first round is pick is neat

My opinion (take it for what it's worth)... I'll draft a pitcher with 2 pitches early IF they don't have a Fastball. I feel like every guy I've had add a pitch, it has been a fastball.

Mine have been a change-up and a fastball.

kinda funny, every pitcher throws a fastball, even most knuckleballers.

Every pitcher in the game throws some version of a fastball, whether it be a cutter, or a sinker, what have you. Not all throw a "fastball" which is your typical four seam heater.
