There's the Playboys I know! 0-7 as well. 5 1 run losses. We are the king of the one run loss and like last year cannot win in xtras. Good news is that will probably be our worst week of the season so got it over with.

Somehow my team managed to beat you twice. We only gave up 10 runs in that 2 game series, that counts as dominant performances around here.
I knew this team wasn't going to be a great pitching team. I didn't expect us to be the worst pitching team in the history of the IL. We are on pace to absolutely destroy the IL record for runs allowed. Hell, we are 24th in the league in runs allowed this year, behind every single DL team that has to deal with a DH in every game.
This is easily the most frustrated I've ever been with this game.
At least Rivera started to bat his weight and draw walks again for you, Liquid.
The offense looks good. Doesn't hit for average, but they pack a wallop. It's the pitching. Pitching will screw with you.
****
For years I never embraced the platoon, but I decided to this year. Truthfully, I always avoided it because I never felt I had 10 guys to rely on. Now, I feel I have the depth to do so. Having the ability to use Tufts as a super-utility guy and get everyone rest while employing three catchers has been beneficial to my plan. I'm still searching for that really reliable fourth outfielder (Nazaire gets a pass for now because he's being forced to start and I don't want him to...and Chumley should be in AAA).
When Sinclair gets back, I'll be able to better judge what Nazaire can do in spot starts. Scott Rodriguez seems to really be benefiting from days of rest.
The slow march to .500 is complete. And really, that's all I need to hover around to be right in the thick of things this year. Nice to see Refund homer in his first two games back.
Starting pitching is still hugely suspect of course, but hopefully our offense and our bullpen can pull us through.

SIM 4 - Washington Bats (16-10) 0-2 @ Virginia
1-1 vs. Morgantown
1-3 @ California
Figured I'd struggle this sim. Sucks to lose five games by a combined six runs. Fuck.
THE GOOD
Continuing his hot start to 1995, Marv Bowers hit his first homerun of the year...and then hit two more. The youngster is now hitting .378 with a 1.055 OPS. He's on pace for 50 stolen bases, 200+ hits and he will probably win the DUI in RF.
Make that three straight quality starts for Norm Winters. In his last three starts, 22 innings, 4 ER. Looks like he needed to just get out of Pittsburgh.
THE BAD Clint Johnston is ice-cold. The leadoff hitter in both lineups went 1/22 this week and probably cost my team a game or two or three.
THE UGLY Len Jenksins can't get run support. Two straight complete games, two losses. He gave up 2 ER in the combined starts.
NEXT WEEK
Three vs. Carolina, three @ Davenport. Good test. I'll say, 2-1, 1-2, 3-3 sim.
Wilmington Wildcats- 2057- Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041 Washington Bats - 1979-2013
SIM 4 - Baltimore Bulldogs (12-14) 1-1 @ PHI
0-2 vs. CAL
3-0 @ CAR
Our first winning sim. Sorry, but thanks Carolina. Looks like California just has our number again this year.
THE GOOD
When I resigned Wallace, I really didn't expect Brad Cherry to hit this well. To date, Cherry is hitting .371 with a .424 OBP. Its easy to expect this from lefties in Baltimore but Cherry is hitting .383 on the road. The kid earned himself a chance to play everyday with those kind of numbers. Good thing that second year is a mutual option for Wallace.
Alex Gomez is another kid who is getting a bit of notice in Baltimore. He's platooned with Cherry and Wallace against lefties and it took a couple of weeks for him to adjust to the big league game. But so far in May, he has torn the cover off the ball. I will have to find a way to get this kid more AB's.
JJG (Juan Jose Garcia) may be back. Last week he went 2-0 with 1.26 ERA, .77 WHIP, and 10 K's. He also has 80% on quality starts. That the guy I'm used to seeing. I'm really not sure what was wrong with him last year. I'm sure signing a new 3-year deal has something to do with it.
THE BAD Donnie Greene is 3-2, but has an ERA over six. That just reeks of inconsistency. I really need more from him. He may be moved to a pitch count because he seems to get shelled after about six innings of work.
THE UGLY
No ugly really. We are, who I thought we were.
NEXT WEEK
With Los Alamos and Windy City,we play a couple of teams in the Bock where I can see us going 6-0 or 0-6. Therefore, I'll take the 3-3 split and be happy.
