2-4 to start out the year. No injuries to speak of, which is a plus. Our pitchers were ready to start the season but the bats were definitely not unpacked after ST.
Things to Cheer
- We allowed 17 runs in 6 games and posted a team ERA of 2.42. The bullpen still has a spotless sheet a week into the season.
-RP Shao-qi Long got a slight bump in his control rating during the offseason/ST and he was out of options so we made room for him on the BLB roster. If he can keep his WHIP in the 1.4-1.5 range he can play because of his ridiculous K totals he can produce. This week 1 IP = 3 K.
- SP Gil O’Moore is off to a much better start than last season, posting a 1.80 ERA over 15.0 innings in 2 starts, striking out 19.
- SP Romano Jacopino in his 1st start of the year threw 7.1 shutout innings and struckout 11 batters. We’d like to see him start off strong after missing the last bit of ’94 with an injury.
Things to Jeer
- We only scored 17 runs in 16 games, hitting .181 | .249 | .264 as a team.
- 4 losses, 1 by 2 runs, 3 by 1 run. We’re going to need to post a better record in close games going forward.
- Only Tadasuke Uchiyama and Hector Gonzalez posted an OPS for the week greater than .710. The offense struggled mightily as a whole.
Don't we usually wait until Sim 3 or so though so all the waiver/promotion/demotion mess dies out? No biggie though...excited to see new faces in new places.
