FA's don't always go for the highest bidder from what I've seen.
I only gave Dodson what he requested from me. On the previous sim, I offered him more money for less years but no dice.
Glad to finally land a top FA after we struck out last year on Kinsey. Dodson's been durable over the years but with our luck he wont make it out of spring training. With that in mind, I'm still seriously thinking about putting him at 2B full time.
Toronto Canadians - 2004- Brewmaster's Cup Champions: 2022 Domestic League Champions: 2021, 2022 Ale Division Champions: 2021, 2022 DL Wildcard: 2019, 2020 Davenport Brawlers - 1988 to 1998 Bock Division Champions: 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1995
Well, no way I could have afforded Dodson. He asked for far less (like 12 million per year for 7 years) to resign but went nuts once he hit Free Agency. Wish him the best in Davenport.
Picked up some nice pieces last sim. Got Larochelle to fill in the back end of my rotation. Made a big trade for Johnny Buzzell who my scout still thinks will be an impact player this year. Joe Zegarra will play the role of jack of all trades. Also resigned Ross Broadbridge who did a fine job as a backup infielder last year.
The two FA I lost made a combined 41 million a year in free agency. Wow!
I had offered Dodson something like $105m/5 years before last sim. It was the leading offer, but obviously the price rose higher than that. I had him with as heavily front loaded of a deal as the game would let me offer. I withdrew it anyway after looking it over some more.
I'm happy to get Guzman. I think he's got plenty left in the tank to have some good years here. It also significantly lifted my fan interest.
