  • Awesome New feature you may not be aware of.

Ok this is a little bit anal, but this year the game logs are super in depth. What do I mean? Well here's an example. Check the bolded text.

Top of the 1st - Boston Americans batting - Pitching for New York Giants : LHP F. Schupp
    Pitching: LHP F. Schupp
Batting: LHB G. Williams 0-0: Ball
    1-0: Ball
    2-0: Foul Ball
    2-1: Called Strike
    2-2: Ball
    3-2: Base on Balls
Batting: RHB L. Nunamaker 0-0: Sac Bunt - play at first, batter OUT!
    G. Williams to second
Batting: LHB T. Speaker 0-0: Ball
1-0: SINGLE (Groundball, 5D)G. Williams to third
Runner from 3rd tries for Home, SAFE, throw made home
    T. Speaker to second

    What does Groundball 5D mean?

It means Ground ball down the 3rd base line. I'll post a chart showing you how to read those codes...

It's nice since we can't see our games to get a visual on what really happened. You can even see where the HR balls go.

I wonder how much a players range rating affects what they can get to. That chart really breaks down the field.

I know in the past, players range obviously meant their ability to get to balls, however their fielding rating determined if they could actually make the play once getting there. So a guy with a 7-8 in range but only 1-2 fielding rating would probably make a TON of errors due to them being able to actually get to balls other players wouldn't, yet their bad "glove" ability would cause an error that a player with worse range would just watch get through for a hit and never be charged for an error.

I've noticed that the scoring is a little different than what I referenced. OOTP seemed to have made their own slight tweaks with their game logs. I wish they would've had some reference to it with the documentation.
