I never spent $115,000,000 on payroll... that was GIGGAs... and keep in mind that Payroll number you're pulling from History is not Player Expense... it's payroll including staff.
Oh sorry, you've paid $110....I didn't say owners I just said teams.
Anything over $80 is cheating according to Matt anyways.
Wilmington Wildcats- 2057- Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041 Washington Bats - 1979-2013
BUT... as I've said before, the CAP is working for what people wanted. It's not allowing teams that draft well to keep their own players if they're good enough to command a decent salary. Forced parity really. But, I think what folks failed to realize is that it doesn't tighten the gap at all. Because when a team has to let a guy walk cause he can't afford him, the only team that can are the HAVES.
I'm fine with the CAP... but teams that get in CAP Hell... are going to trade guys for pennies on the dollar before they'll let them walk for nothing. That doesn't cause parity. That doesn't improve the Free Agent classes. It just rewards the people who are more willing to trade.
I may have finished one regular season win short, but I already have three post-season wins to your one... I'll pay $20 million for that every year. (Batavia $80 vs. DC $99)
Just noticed the voting...I'm surprised I've gotten any votes.
However, I think you need to re-think the claim that my team is nothing without a high payroll. It's not just the Washington Bats, it's any BLB winner, really.
List of BLB Championship winners and their highest payroll:
Los Lunas - $94
Maine x6 - $107
Carolina - $92
Wilmington - $89
Washington x2 - $111
Windy City - $92
California - $96
Virginia x2 - $115
Los Alamos - $106
Basically, every team that won a title, has spent $90+ mill in a season and the teams with multiple championships, are routinely high spenders. I don't want to be misleading however, Los Lunas, Carolina, Wilmington, Windy City and California have all won titles spending less than $79,000,000, which is what you spent on your squad this season. And how about...
So by your definition, if Washington isn't any good, neither is Virginia or Maine? Jeez, if were not good I can't imagine what you think of Baltimore.
This the most misleading and (dumbest) stat I've ever seen.
Lets take a look at something more tangible like All-Time Win Percentage. There are only 3 teams with a better win percentage than Baltimore. So I don't want to hear shit about how much Baltimore spends.
BLB Los Alamos Amigos

For the record, "big market" Syracuse finished the year with 71.6 million in player payroll. And that was after adding Gugs. Small market mindset forever!

I haven't signed even a minimum contract Free Agent in 3 years. That's why my bullpen sucks. I've traded or released 6 homegrown players because I couldn't afford them because of the CAP/Money. That, my friends, is living like a small market team. ;)
