Baltimore Bulldogs- (73-70 overall, 5 GB in Porter, 3 GB in WC)
1-6. We saved our worse baseball for September....yea!!! After almost blowing a 4-1, 9th inning lead in our first game to Batavia, we lost in extra innings in the 2nd game to Batavia, we gave up 25 runs in two games to California, and then proceeded to blow two 8th inning leads to Virginia.
Epic collapse?
The Good
-Does It Really Count: JJG threw his best game of the season going 6.2 innings, with just 1 ER, 1 BB and 3 K. It would have been really nice if the bullpen didn't come in the 8th and give up 2 runs so we that we wouldn't have lost, 3-2.
-Picking Up The Slack: Unfortunately, replacing a guy like Kyoden Kubota doesn't happen often but I'll give credit when its due. Rookie outfielder, Marv Barnes, did go 8/24 with 4 walks and a .407 OBP. At least he put up the effort.
The Bad
-Everything Else: Its like almost like the team quit when Kyoden got hurt. Offensively, Don Castor and Victor Escamilla were no shows, while other normally consistent guys like Donnie Greene, Franklin Martinez, and Hector Quintero served extra servings of taters from the mound all week long.
What's Next
This week is pretty much the make or break week for our season. Honestly, with the Kubota injury, I really don't expect much but we can at least try. With Batavia 5-games ahead of both ourselves and Philly, they pretty much have the won their first Porter crown. So our focus now jumps to the wildcard only. We face Washington in Yankee Field in a crucial 3-game matchup then head the Morgantown to play the Mohawks.Last edited by Delandis; 09-21-2011, 09:44 AM.
