My game philosophy is to do a search through all of Clay's posts - highlight and copy the little tidbits he throws out there - and try to do exactly the same thing. Highlights:
-Build through the draft, but sprinkle in the big trade
-No international players in draft
-Nicknames are good
-No extensions to 40 year olds in a contract year
Seriously. I really wish I could stick to my guns with those, but I tend to do the opposite on every single one of them.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

I'd just like to note that Herrera, Maeda, and Olivio are all internationals drafted in early rounds.

I like that people have their philosophies based on what they see and I'm sure most are more reliable, but it isn't plain and simple.
Projecting that the number one pick will always be a superstar is never always true either.Denver Bulls

The only high pick I've spent on an international in the past 5 years is Val Aparicio, who is developing just fine so far. We'll see if he can become a good BLB pitcher, but so far he's doing alright.
Now my picks don't pan out in general, so it's in everyone's best interest to see what I do and then do the exact opposite.Washington Bats, 2013-

To each their own I guess. I've had very good success with development of international players.
But I do have a question:
How do you know internationals don't develop well, if you don't draft them?

(B) Just because they aren't on my team, doesn't mean I can't scout them.
(C) I'm a BLB Geek... you don't think I've done the research and compared HS, College, Cape Cod and INT players and figured out the rate at which they appear to be developing? I have that kind of time.
Again, as always, just my personal theory based on the information I've gathered. I could be wrong. My "research" could be incomplete because it's only a half a dozen years old. 20 seasons into the feeders, we may find thing to be quite different. But, I think Elman Amilakhori is a great example. He was the consensus #1 guy in '91 by everyone's scouts. Could he be cursed by being on M'Town? Maybe... but... just sayin'.The Great One!

I do agree that International players do not develop as quickly. I think we're still too early in our league to know what will happen to them, but I also know you've done the research and research is better than assumptions.
I think another thing I see with International players is they tend to be overrated by scouts and then suddenly take talent hits a few seasons into their minor league careers whereas non-international players will let you know rather quickly how successful they'll be by taking a hit after a season.
Just an observation from what I've seen. I still don't want to rule them out. We were a league entirely based on them when you really think about it. International players are pretty much the players the game created for us when we didn't have a feeder league. But, perhaps the feeder league players are dominating the INT players and hurting their progress.
It's tough to develop, I would think, if feeder league pitchers are beating you down.Denver Bulls
