    Baltimore Bulldogs (45-40, 2 GB)

    1-2 vs. Windy City
Short week, bad results. I believe this is the first schedule in which not only did I play 3 games (instead of 2) immediately following the All-Star Break, but I didn't play Washington. After this result, I wish we were still playing them.

    The Good
-For the first time since moving to Baltimore, Kyoden Kubota did not make the All-Star team. However, Kubota did hit .625 with a .759 OBP in the Windy City series, but it was obviously not enough as we still lost 2 of 3. I like his trend though. Two months ago he was batting .234 now he's at .296. He's been awesome.

-Donnie Greene pitched well in his outing against WC. Seven innings, three hits, six strikeouts and just one earned run. We are going to need a lot more of those from him.

-Dani Salcido is making his annual move to the bullpen. I need to make a concerted effort to get someone to replace him as a starter next year. He plays much better in the bullpen.

    The Bad
-We used to be a top team in stolen bases, but now we sit at just 9th in the IL. With Ivan Garcia losing a step, Wallace struggling, and McPherson fading away into the Washington minor league sunset, we need that back again. Our OBP is one of the best in the league, but it doesn't mean much if we can't move those runners.

    The Ugly
-Our pitching. You never understand how good a guy like O'Moore is until he is playing well for someone else. We are hovering around 10th-12th in ERA this year and quite frankly, I didn't expect Grady and JJG to pitch so poorly. I've put out a few good offers for some help for our rotation but, I've been denied in nearly every case. I'm not sure we can make the playoffs pitching like this when there are rotations like Batavia and Philly in the Porter.

    The Week Ahead
-3 vs. Carolina and 3 vs. Davenport. I'm never sure what to expect against these two opponents, no matter where they sit in the Bock. I'm just hoping to not fall too far behind Batavia.

That Carolina/Washington game was insane. 2-1 going into the 6th turns out 14-13.

Happy 27th Birthday to Ivan Olivo! The best closer in the BLB...who will inevitably be traded to the DL and become a mediocre starter.
