  • Hyundai is on the clock.

The Colonials use the pick from Carolina in the Rod Phillips deal to get the kid we think can be our Catcher of the future in Rice's Johnny Davis. Like a lot about this kid.

He'd been #1 on my board since you took DuFour. I really wanted to get back into the first round and pick him.

I wouldn't have been surprised had he been picked in the top 10-15 picks.

          • New Orleans selects 18-year-old 3B Dave Farmer from Arab, Alabama.

Tough decision between a few players here. Our crack scouting staff thinks Farmer is one of several 6-rated contact bats in the draft, in addition to being an above average fielder and runner. We were also intrigued by his nearly complete lack of intangibles other than greed.

....I hate drafting high school kids.

He's been on our shortlist for a while now. He obviously has the potential. Its the drive that's worrisome about with this kid.

I agree on the HS thing.

                        • Loved the Alvarez pick. Had him as the fourth best hitter overall.

                            I liked him as well.

                            • Took a guy who will probably bust, SS Bobby Corral. He can play all four IF positions at a nice level, and my scout, while calling him an "average hitter who will hit .270", has him at 5-6-4-5-7 and OSA likes him as well at 5-7-5-6-7.

Passed on a couple guys I'm hoping will drop to 2.19, but that's probably just a pipe dream.

Typical Pilsner draft. It has sucked.
