1984 4.BAL:Carlos Pena (MR)-Baltimore
1984 8.BAL: Jeremiah Alexander (C)-Pawtucket
1986 5.BAL: Zack Murphy (MR)-Mississippi
1986 7.BAL: Raul Reyes (MR)- Davenport
1987 7.BAL: Joaquin Martinez (MR/SP)-Maine
1988 4.BAL: Pleun Schuilenberg (MR)- Hyundai
1988 7.BAL: Dani Salcido (SP)-Baltimore
1988 9.BAL: Dave Lock (MR)-Dallas
1990:4.BAL: Don Morgan (OF)-Denver
1990:5.BAL: Brad Antell (SS)-Baltimore
1991:5.BAL: Franklin Cruz(MR)-Washington
Those are only the major contributors that have been drafted and that's only Baltimore. There are even more shrewd drafting GM's that I'm sure do better than I do.
You've convinced yourself that the only way to get players is to draft early and often. That's fine, its a strategy that has worked well for you. However, it isn't the only successful way to draft in this league.
That being said, you couldn't be more wrong on my "strategy". I've said for 10 seasons that you build with your high picks (1st three rounds) and by trading (usually top prospects). Even if you call LA's win last year a win with Free Agents, it was really on the back of his high drafted players.
I'll wait for someone to float in and turn this into a "Clay's arrogant thread" but I call it like I see it. And while I've only had an upper-echelon team for about a third of our history, in the feeder league era I feel its a reality of how you have to build. The Great One!

While we're all talking about how awesome of drafters we are, I'd like to point out that I'm probably the worst drafter in the league. I think I've maybe closer make the all star game. I can pick out the top 100's pretty consistently but the doesn't always translate.
I've had a TON of 1st round busts too. Lately it's gotten better but I look back at some of my drafts and seriously don't know what I was thinking.WINDY CITY PLAYBOYS

I just hope everyone's got a plan or strategy. Even if it doesn't work, you should know what you're attempting to do.
Honestly, I don't think most of the GMs here really plan their moves. Not saying there's anything really wrong with that. If this is more recreational for you, then cool. For others, it's much more than that.Denver Bulls

I disagree with Carlos (kinda)... I think most of the GM's have a type more than a strategy. For example, I take left-handed hitters with high speed and gap.... and I tend to lean toward pitchers with high GB% regardless of their other skills. That's my type.
