    [sarcastic tone]

People. I'll be in last place soon enough. But for now, do yourself a favor and recognize.

Recognize the Pilsner, Sully. Best combined record in the league at 18-6.

Recognize second rate GM Carlos Hernandez, who somehow took an outfit full of scrubs and guided them to a .500 week. That's a miracle.

Recognize Jim, who spent smartly all off season and got off to a 4-2 start. That's on pace for like 107 wins. Impressive.

Recognize that clown Chippered, who, much like his heroin addiction, got back up on the horse after losing again last year. How could he possibly convince these bums that a) Indianapolis is seriously a cool place to play and b) you guys can start off 5-1?

Then recognize the 6-0 Syracuse Slammers. What a bunch of hard working grinders. You would want your kids to live with these guys.

Recognize Adam Nickell. The guy already strained his hip... as a DH... running the bases. Can't stop him, he still hit .400 for the week.

Recognize the Slammer bullpen. 10.2 IP, 0 runs. Show these guys some love.

Recognize your 1993 DL New Brew, Dusty Campbell. The guy is so dedicated that after Carbajal left he had a makeover so he could look more like him, then he called Pedro Zamarida and told him he was looking for a new grandfather.

    Uncanny resemblance.

    [/sarcasm]

Seriously, thank goodness for small sample sizes. We'll be 6-18 soon enough.

Scary. Zamarida's still working that wooden cane of his. Never gonna die.

Looking for positives in a 1-5 week:

          Al Hamilton
had a nice debut in the BLB, .364/.462/.636, 2 HR. Good to see as I'm still unsure of how "ready" he is. I think he'll do ok, but he's still got a lot of growth in front of him.

          Adrian Romero
and Masaoki Matsumoto also played fairly well. I'm hoping to see Romero take that next step this year and be an all-star caliber player, while I think Matsumoto could hit for a nice average at 3B.

          Negatives:

          Everything else.

I anticipated a rough start for the Colonials while trying to figure out this bullpen. With Glen Farrell moving to the starting rotation, that left a big hole.

            What I liked:
            - The two best players in the BLB play in Virginia. Cases can be made, but Pancho and Chavez are nasty.

            - J-Mac (yeah, that's what I'm calling Jonah McCarthy) looks like he'll benefit from this lineup. Small sample size.

            What I didn't like:
            - Pen

            - Half of my lineup didn't hit...really at all.

            - Losing to Cali. Hate losing to Cali.
            The Great One!

            To many rings to count...

I didn't do a very thorough check, but I do believe we had our first perfect game in the feeder leagues in the previous sim:

              <table class="lposhadow" cellpadding="8" cellspacing="0" width="934"><tbody><tr><td style="padding-left:10px;" valign="top" width="110"></td><td class="sl" valign="top" width="500">YES! YES! It's a Perfect No-No for Bright
              Wednesday, March 30th, 1994: It was a "one-in-a-million shot".
Only happens "once in a blue moon".
Or maybe only when "Hell freezes over". But for Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox pitcher D.J. Bright, today's game was very, very special. The 21-year-old hurler joined baseball's most elite fraternity by tossing a perfect game against the Falmouth Commodores.

In the 5-0 Yarmouth-Dennis win Bright had 11 strikeouts, retiring all 27 hitters he faced.

He told the press, "I think it was in the eighth inning that it dawned on me that not only was I pitching a no-hitter, but no one has gotten on base either. I had a perfect game going. But you know, I felt as strong as I did in the first inning. I went right after them with all I had... and I got me a perfect game."

His batterymate told BNN reporters, "He worked the corners real well and made Falmouth go fishin' a lot. His breaking stuff really gave them fits. Bright didn't give them very many good looks and nothing in the middle of the plate. He was in command the whole ballgame."

                  2-4

                  0-3 at Davenport
                  2-1 vs. Carolina

#1 in pitching...#12 in hitting. What an absolute power outage to start the season.

                  MacGruder - .043
                  Kirby - .045
                  Campbell - .160
                  Nan - .167
                  Rojas - .174
                  Wouters - .182

We pick up Wouters, Campbell, and Kirby in the off-season hoping they lift this lineup and they start out with a dud. Overall as a team we end up with a 43-13 K to BB stat line. My starting pitching was darn near lights out but when you score 2 runs in the first 3 games of the season it really sucks.

Last year we started hot then fizzled and missed the playoffs. We're hoping for the reverse if this trend continues.

I was hoping someone would pull through...someone I liked. Can't have it all.
