We really only "went for it" past 2 seasons. 1991 was very unexpected.

INDY - Creeping towards Buffalo Bills status and should be in the running again.

VIRGINIA - A 3rd Championship in '94 would (a) justify the return of Woodbury for $22, (b) cement their legacy as one of the top franchises in the BLB and (c) get them to that illusive 3rd BLB Championship before D.C.

      ***

TOP 3 PLAYERS IN LINE FOR THEIR FIRST ALL-STAR GAME IN 94
      1. Syracuse 1B Rex Morgan. Stuck behind a lot of talented 1B in the league, but his time is now.

      2. Morgantown starter Jerry Howell. Has played for a bad team which hurts his win total, but last year he positioned himself as one of the best overlooked up-and-coming starters in the IL. Three years running he's done nothing but pitch well and get ignored.

      3. Windy City 2B Cristian Rivera. With apologies to Adrian Romero, this year Rivera enters the sights of the voters.

      Let's try the reverse.

Name Three BLB Veteran All-Stars that will sit out the game in 1994.

        Let's try the reverse.

Booooo (about Romero). Anyway, I made a list on this one that you answered, and I also have Howell and Morgan. Here was my 3:

Curt Dodson (MIS)- He's put up 50+ VORP seasons in each of the past 3 years, yet the former #1 pick has never been invited to the All-Star game. His career VORP of 317.5 is the highest of any hitter without a trip to the Midsummer Classic.

Rex "Beast" Morgan (SYR)- A former top prospect that's been traded a couple times, Morgan found his stride in 1993 and it wouldn't be a surprise if he had a huge 1994.

Jerry Howell (MOR)- It's tough to make the All-Star team as a starter in the IL, and he's sometimes overshadowed by Doug Coates on his own team, but Howell has established himself as one of the best pitchers in the league. He'll break through soon.

        Let's keeps your question.

Name Three BLB Veteran All-Stars that will sit out the game in 1994.

Dodson hasn't been on a team? Wow, I didn't even check his history because I figured there was no way he hadn't played on the roster. Definitely would have named him in my list and we would've ended up with the same three.

edit: If I had named Dodson, I wouldn't have lost a friend today by picking Rivera over Romero. Butterfly Effect.

            Juan Jose Hidalgo (CAL)-
All-Star in 1990 and 1993, yet was let go by Los Alamos despite helping the Bandits to their first championship. Just 26, is it possible his best days are already behind him? In an offseason of wild spending, Hidalgo had to settle for a modest deal.

Joshua Poling (PHI)- All-Star in 85, 86, 87 and 93. The oft-derided Poling made the game last year simply because someone on Carolina had to go. He won't be as fortunate now that he's on a team that isn't terrible.

            Dani "Steady" Alvarez (DAL)-
A seven time BLB All-Star, he's still going to a very good player, but the competition at 1B in the DL is going to be tough with Chamissa, Morgan, Rojas, Gremades, etc.

If the BLB held a dispersal draft now, who would the top 3 picks be? I guess another way to look at this is: Name the 3 best players to build a franchise around currently in the league.

              1. Hector Chavez - SS - VIR - A top player, at a top position in his prime? Yes please.

              2. Pancho Herrera - SP - VIR - His numbers do all the talking. At only 26, Herrera is the cream of the pitching crop.

              3. Rod Phillips - C - CAR - I'll get knocked for this... but I think Phillips is the best catcher in the BLB. Only 28, Phillips injury history lists him as an "iron man". If you know your star catcher is going to be in the lineup day in and day out, I'm not sure what more you can ask for.

Outside of Keppel, name three players that are locks for the BLB Hall of Fame.

You beat me to it. First, he is "maybe" the 3rd best catcher in the league behind Kubota or Haynes.

There are at least 5-7 other guys I'm taking before Phillips due to the at depth at catcher in this league and his age.

Meh... he's the best... maybe second to Kubota... but probably the best when you factor in everything.

That being said... I think the answer is Pancho, Durham and Chavez (honorary mention to Ednams). Great SP and Middle IF have to be what you build on in this league.

Bock- Its normally never a blow out

Pilsner- Indy is more built for the postseason. Just gets by in the regular season.

Porter- Just alot of happening there. Don't think Baltimore is ready to hand off the division just yet.
