We need to have a conversation about the Pawtucket deal too.

The original spirit of the CAP was that you could not sign new players that would push you over the CAP. Arbitration or Call-ups can push you over, but you could not sign new players that pushed you above $100.0.

      Discuss.

I thought the hard and fast rule was simply @ or below $100M by Opening Day or risk cuts.

I thought it was by opening day, but really I'm ok with whatever the rules were. Artie is gone next sim. I was just waiting for Harry's response.

Again.... I'm just opening the floor for discussion.

The original cap as written was that new signings could not push you over.

My goal is for our rules to be clear. I want our Rules page to get as specific as possible.

I'm PERSONALLY fine with it... but I want to make sure that everyone sees the rules the same way. I always understood the rule the other way.

Just let me know. Really I'm ok with this whole thing. I knew I'd cut this close, but honestly it was Artie was either gone after Harry signed or he stayed. He only has one year left his contract. I tried to move him (just cuz i liked him) but no one wanted him.

And have to ask, can't I just reduce my scouting salary a bit?? Let me know.

Well, if it's an illegal move, the Keppel deal would have to be voided. If the rule is under by Opening Day... just get under by Opening Day.

No. Your total of PLAYER SALARIES in the entire organization have to be $100.0 or below on Opening Day. Has nothing to do with Scouting or Personnel. You're about $3.0 over right now, but I have to assume the deal you just made puts you under, No?

The cap only deals with player payroll, as far as I understand it. Scouting/Coaching doesn't factor in.

I think as long as payroll is at or below $100 MM by Opening Day, it's all good. Otherwise, you have to deal guys before you actually know whether or not you'll sign a guy via FA. And if you deal guys to clear cap space, and miss out on that key FA, you're dicked.

If that's how everyone sees the rules...we'll make sure the RULES PAGE gets written more clearly.

Again, I'll be under the cap one way or another.

That was never in question. Not an option.

Question, just because these financials confuse me. If I'm over the cap, can I cut player to get under? Where does that money go? Obviously I don't think I'll ever have to worry about it, I just want to make sure there isn't some flaw in our system that would allow someone else to do so.

                                I don't understand the question.

                                What money?

If you're at $102.0 on ST2, you have to cut at least $2.0. It will hit your PLAYER EXPENSE, but it can't be on your roster. The money is gone.
