I have. I went after Kinsey again last sim when he was just asking for 15 per. That's apparently doubled from that file to the current file.

I guess OOTP is funny with what constitutes as an offer in financial reports. Stop trying to make side deals, Sully.

Along with everyone else, I cringed a little bit when I submitted my last offer to Kinsey. Now I have no idea if I even want him at the price it's going to take. There's just so much money floating around this league that you're going to have to pay double reasonable value to get anyone in FA.

I don't know if I'd offer Kinsey $30MM, but in the spirit of friendly competition, there are few players that deserve big dollars. Kinsey is one of them.

My thinking is always: What will happen if he takes a talent hit? Well, he'd stop being superb and just be great.

It's like people that say Carl Crawford can't be really fast forever. You're right. He'll just slow down and be fast. Pity the Red Sox.

Kinsey tells me he wants 16mil. Obviously he knows what a class organization we are and he wants to be part of legend.

Well, if Joe Soto can go from being offered $1 MM a year to telling me he prefers $600,000, then I guess anything is possible.

You're using Carl Crawford's performance this season as an argument in favor of signing Kinsey?

Not if April makes up all of 2011.

Look at the top salaries in the league. Only Woodbury is over 20 million at 22. Rest are around 18 and lower. Kinsey and Carbajal will be the two highest players in the league by far. Both are special players, I just don't put them in the same class as Woodbury, Chavez, Chamissa, Scott, etc.

Those guys also didn't have the power of free agency to drive up their salaries.

I disagree with Kinsey not being on that level. He's probably the 2nd best power hitter of all-time. He just was unfortunate to be on a struggling team.

I was surprised that no one topped that offer.

Yes, he has the worst stuff of any pitcher in the BLB but the dude still managed to throw 200 innings with a .500 record. Should be a solid addition at the bottom of the rotation.

Yeah, I guess I'm speaking more on the "all-around" type players the others are. If anything, I think Carbajal is more valuable than Kinsey just because he's spectacular defensively.

Wait, so you mean Joe Blanton ($10M) is not a better pitcher than Cole Hamels ($9M)?

I mean, obviously. The highest paid player is usually the most recent decent player to sign. If Woodbury were a FA right now he'd make upwards of $30M. But he's not and never will be, and neither will any of the other guys you listed.
