Love the matchup coming up. Best pitcher in the game today, Pancho, in the midst of his prime, versus one of the best of all time, Gugs, now 40 and in the twilight of his career, on what could only be described as (possibly) the last big start of his life. If only Bob Costas could work the lead for this one.

And then who gets the call against Jenkins in game 7, if neccessary of course? The other geriatric, LaRochelle (a two time Slammer, boom), or young McDonald?
I'm enjoying the broken up SIMS too... so you're not alone.

I'm a big Dimmick fan. Because of that, I took the "calculated risk" of switching Morgan and Pancho going into this series. My theory was that Dimmick would get Games 1/5 and provide easily their two best chances to win. That would give me Pancho in 2/6 and Jenkins in 3/7. The only real shock to me at this point was winning GAME 1 vs Dimmick (though he was great). So, the risk looks good on paper right now. I get two chances to win one game with two of the best pitchers in 1993. I can't even worry about what they counter with. I give my team two GREAT chances to win.

That being said... Woodbury needs to hit... something he hasn't done in the first 5 games.

I enjoy it...but would enjoy it more with a little postseason match-up writing guys!

That's one cool thing about the new Statslab (hopefully we can get those set up over the break) is they have the playoff previews and things of that sort.

I'm trying to minimize the amount of writing about my team. You can only get the same responses so many times.

Hoping I can get an assessment of the new Utility from StuDrew... but we'll see.

I personally prefer the way it's being done now. I like knowing that people will have to wait and watch Denver win a championship in 2000.

Generalized playoff previews are always nice. I enjoyed writing the BLB Monthly but I didn't think anyone really read it. I would like to see more writing for the league though...it's seemed to die off.

Maybe a few of us could get together and write. What would people like to read/see?

I read your Monthly thing. I liked the stuff near the end mostly that were more FACTOIDS and OPINIONS and not just news items. It is a good read though.

It's tough. I think most people really, really know their team and not much else. But, writing about one's own team too many times likely gets old to the readers as well.

I'll probably try to write some more in the summer. My freelance gig ended today, so I'm not working for at least the next 3 months. Do some DRAFTS revisted.... talk about upcoming HOFers.... Milestone chases.... maybe even some BLB-to-MLB comparisons.... Maybe someone can even start to pen the rags to riches legend of the Colonials. I choose Carlos... from his mobile device.

OK, so here is the first official comment I'll make about what I'm doing. I make this announcement now because the event season ended today here in beautiful Hermosa Beach, California. I fly back to NY tomorrow and will begin doing research for...

                    *drum roll*

                    A book about the BLB.

I don't know how long it'll take me, but I already have a long list of chapters that will cover a lot about the league. Well, I have ideas on chapters. I haven't actually outlined the thing, but I already know what I want to do with this book because I stare at two books that have pretty much all of the chapters I want in it.

And because of what I'm covering, it won't matter that the league's history continues to grow as I write the thing. It has a very set time period.

In time I'll probably ask some people for things to add to it. It depends. I can't confirm I'll need this, but I probably will. (Edit: Not for stories, but for quotes, extra thoughts on players/teams).

And, I'm thinking that as I write it, I'll post some excerpts every now and then.

So there, if there isn't even more reason to get this done than to announce it to the league, I don't know what else could do it. And Matt, don't make me leave promises on when it'll be done. It'll be written. I want it. I think it'll be very fun to write.

Clay, I won't be writing it from my phone...entirely.

Well damn...that blows my BLB Monthly out of the water!

I'll order a copy. Will it be available via iBooks?

I was/am right there with you, but I honestly felt (and still do) if the series get broken up over 2 SIMs (Mon - Tue; Wed-Thu; Fri-Sat) that it would make the playoffs seem like they were moving more slowly and give those who were interested in seeing the series develop a bit of time to dive into the details, while not "bothering" the uninterested teams who are ready to move into the offseason since IRL time we'd be on the same usual schedule.

Can I read the book on tape?

Do they still make books on tape?
