Screw all of you pennant chasing fools. Time to gloat in what I have.

Pancho Alvarez is batting .416 over his last 120 at-bats (50 hits).

He started August 1st batting .291 and has raised his average to .321 as of today.

Since July 1, 1993 Pancho Alvarez has the highest average (.371) of any player in the BLB.

(Though, I want to give credit to Pancho Perez who has been even more stellar overall. That man is hitting .367 with 19 HR, 51 RBI and a 1.101 OPS since July 1 compared to Alvarez .374, 13 HR, 39 RBI, 1.053 OPS).

Don McGuire, the most underrated hitter in the BLB?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Since July 1st his OPS is .846.

He's hit a load of bombs (17) but Perez and Helmrich have hit more.

I think Alverez still holds that title. Especially after all the frequent flyer miles he accumulated last year.

It'll be interesting with Dani Alvarez. Assuming he sticks in Dallas, he will have played there at least 6.5 years against 7.5 years in Wilmington.

Will you remember him as a Wildcat or a Snapper? His numbers aren't too much dissimilar. Right now, his OPS is higher with Dallas (.933) than it was in Wilmington (.899) but I think we can safely assume it'll go down as he declines in his mid-to-late 30s. Hopefully, not much as I'd like this to be a real argument some day and I very much like Dani Alvarez.

I do too, but he's only been there for a year and a half. It may be different in six seasons when he's closing in on records.

I think you could make a very good case for it. Is there an MLB counterpart?

He has had a really slow season by Keppel standards. Can't help but think he could use a change of scenery. I know... Sac-relig.

Meh, I think he gets as much credit as he deserves. He's basically a poor man's Jay Buhner. Slightly better than Greg Vaughn.

Haha, not at all. My organization has had one player that deserves and has received, through numerous All-Star votes and MVP votes, admiration from the league.

Pancho Alvarez is but a second year player that could fall off a cliff with a random talent drop in the off-season.

I honestly just don't see what's so special about McGuire but that he hits a lot of home runs. That's nice and everything but there are enough outfielders in our league that can hit for a better average, take a walk and provide just as much power (even if it isn't with 40 home runs, it's at least with 25+ and a bunch more doubles).

I see McGuire mentioned more times than anybody below him on this list and less times than the ones above. The only exceptions being maybe MAP (for obvious reasons) and Campo (because of his ballpark).

edit: Campo is mentioned a lot but not because of his ballpark. Guess I was thinking of his Baltimore days.

Of anyone, I'd say either Guzman or Cahill is the most underrated DL OF hitter of all-time.

I'm really just being a dick on purpose. I love the Utility and these discussions. I miss them. Let's have more.

And I actually was gonna say something about Cahill being overlooked. Severely overlooked. Guzman is someone I've always followed so maybe I'm biased to think he isn't underrated.
