  • SIM COMPLETE - Regular Season 10

For future reference, the league file is usually up long before the html and long before I post this thread. It takes forver to create the html and upload it. Not sure if it's my laptop or what, but seems like it takes longer every time. You can usually expect the league file about a half hour after I post the first Trade completed post.

I turned off the roster limit for A for this sim only. Anyone who is over 30 players needs to cut down by Tuesday.

David "Hotwire" Tardif made his first ever start this week at (A) Cheyenne Wranglers.

    Not a bad line:

    Win
    8 IP
    4 Hits
    10 K
    1 BB

Oh....and he went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

      Pete Kellum career statistics:

      1978 - .379/.469/.654
      1979 - .405/.483/.595
      1980 - .366/.466/.582

Then we upgrade to OOTP 2007 and after 16 games....

      .169/.258/.186

I know it's unreasonable to expect him to continue that hitting as his age increases and he is 38 years old this season. But come on now. I recognize this could be a slump, but he's not the same player. His K/BB rate is off, he has 1 extra base hit, etc. And his ratings took a hit as well. He's never had a stretch like this in three seasons and suddenly he's an absolute bum? I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Thanks, OOTP 2007.

It's kind of stupid to spend three years learning your players, spend this offseason planning and making moves, and then have players perform drastically differently than they did during the three years we were running a different version of the game. Kinda frustrating.

3-3 week, Drewery pitched a hell of a game against his old team.

3-3. I'm happy. You can't ask for much more against the likes of Windy City and Davenport. McNeilage wanted a 5 year deal, but happily took my 3 year offer. Electric is staying in Wilmington! Dave Robbins is tearing the cover off the ball after a slow start, and the starting pitching is coming around.

4-2 is a great SIM for the Colonials. With all due respect to California, I wish I could play you every game. 8-0 on the season now after a 4 game sweep which included a 17-0 smackdown. Bill Johnson even hit his first HR of the season.

So check this out. Did you see his "expected role"? Bench player. I guess players are still capable of hitting that infamous "wall". My scouts have him as half the player he used to be. And by their ratings, they are right. He should be a bench player.

He will probably retire after this season. Great hitters hit the wall sometimes. Frank Robinson, Mark McGwire, Jimmie Foxx, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks, Eddie Murray, Dave Winfield, ....

It all comes to an end. We salute you, Pete Kellum, on a great BLB career.

Well, 3-3 this sim for the Washington Bats. Not pleased, but not really that upset. Splitting the two game series with Los Almos is OK, and splitting two of four with Windy City is about what I expected.

Next week, inter league. I get to use the DH for six games! On the road against Sin City and Syracuse. Probably another .500 sim, which it appears is my season destiny.

                Although, according to pyt. records:
                Baltimore: 35-27
                Wilmington: 35-28
                Washington: 35-28

Hope that means good things are bound to bounce my way.

I don't think those players, aside from maybe Foxx, "hit the wall". There was a gradual decline in their statistics, but they didn't go from All-Star one year to total scrub the next.

My feeling on Kellum is that the injuries have taken their toll. In OOTP 2007 Injuries can drastically change a players career, especially at his age.

Look at McGwire's, Murray's, and Banks' statistics. It looks like it to me they did.

Either way. Rejoice! The wicked witch is dead!

In all my single player games with 2007, I've never seen a player hit the wall like Kellum. None of my top guys fell off from 2006 to 2007, and some of them are about the same age as him. I'd say injuries and age have caught up to him. Tough break, because he was an amazing player.

As for the Tobs, we went 5-1, winning both games at Virginia and taking 3 of 4 at Baltimore. We're really playing good baseball right now. My pitching was fantastic this sim.

Three way tie atop the Bock Division, with the 3 best records in the league. Crazy.

In other news, the upcoming Free Agent crop took a big hit as Sergio Lumar and John McNeilage resigned with their current clubs.
