I have to admit there are some players that have dropped off form their normal numbers on my team (aka Hildebrand), but it's hard to say after 1/3 of a season if its the game, or just normal baseball life. Someone who is 38 and spent half his life in the hospital SHOULD drop off, maybe not THAT dramatically, but pretty damn close. If we started to see it happen with everyone, then i would question it. But there are just a few cases, which if you think about the circumstances, actually make sense.

Basically, the variable factor in this is so small right now, that we just don't know. Give it at least a season + to see. Right now though, I think it's more realistic.

That's kinda where I think we have to be... too soon to tell. However, I'm OK with (easy for me to say) a 38 year old fragile old man dropping off suddenly then the sheer volume of high prospects that completely vanished on the switch. My #1 pick went from a #1 pick with high 60's/low 70's potential with all my scouts to a 20/20 guy the day we made the switch. Stuff like that... to me... is more of a head scratcher.

I agree. I had a lot of guys just go to 20/20, I think that might be a glitch of some sort, mainly because most of them are still playing like guys that have higher ratings, perhaps the ratings they had in 2006. Anyone approached the designers about that one?

The 20/20 is because they're now being rated on how well they compare to everyone, when before they were only rated against players at their own position.

I think that's a big part of it, but I still think it's bugged. Personally I tend to ignore the OVR and look at their actual ratings and performance. I've even kicked around the idea of shutting off their actual ratings and just going by potential and stats.

I was talking to Andrew about a couple weeks ago. I had a bunch of guys whos ratings and potential ratings never changed but their overall went to 20/80. I had 1 guy in my minor league system who was over a 20/80 overall potential. Hold the jokes about my minor league system or major league team, the only guy rated over a 20/20 was one guy at 31/80 while previously there were a ton atleast 21 before the upgrade. I agree there is some sort of bug and just disregard the overall ratings for now and look at the potential ratings individually.

I don't know if this will make a difference or not, but shouldn't we just switch to the star rating system for the overall portion of the ratings? I know we talked about it prior to the season starting but it seems a relevant time to bring it up again.
