That's the funny part, most people will never even know what the price is.

Just my Opinion.... anyone who is seriously considering getting into the Mel Woodbury sweepstakes in the off-season, should want to trade for him now even if you're not a contender. Take the exclusive negotiations time (and his asking price is reasonable for what he is) and the attendance bump.

That being said... I really thought someone would look at Magness. He's the guy I thought I'd move.

What are "exclusive negotiating rights" worth, though? Unless you're a contender and Woodbury puts you over the top + you're wanting to extend him, I don't think any price really makes sense.

Well, I'd say it guarantees (A) getting Woodbury and (B) probably $5-6 per cheaper.

If I'm Team A who is like a season or two away and plan on bidding on Woodbury in the off-season... I'd think it's at least worth dipping a toe in. Again, this is just my opinion based 100% on how I would play it.... well.... how I did play it. I'm a firm believer in "the team before the team" because, as I've said, I feel like WINS help development.

Again... totally my opinion and I have zero to back it up other than my opinion. I have no proof other than what worked for me, but there's a good chance that that was just dumb luck and (insert Commish joke here).

He's having the worst season of his career...his ERA and WHIP are by far the worst in your entire rotation...He's getting older...he is due a a decent salary next year...I'm not sure why you expected the offers to be plentiful.

The guy I actually thought would be changing teams was Phillips.

Yeah. My ultimate goal was to move two salaries (Magness, Phillips, O'Hegarty) and resign Woodbury for two more seasons. Didn't happen.... so I'll press on.

Now my hope this off-season is to turn one (or more) of my BA Top 100 SPs into an OF Prospect.

Philips is the guy I would have looked at if I didn't have Borkholder extended for three years.
