    Next SIM: Monday @ Noon

Draft should be in. Let me know if I made any errors.

I'm going to keep Single A Rosters at 40 till Wednesday's SIM, so you'll have 2 SIMs to cut.

Baltimore staying alive on the strength of their pitching? Who would've thought.

BTW, minor league All-Star selections have been released.

        2-4, 6-1, 1-5

This game is on crack this season. I understand the dice rolls even out over the course of the year but come on...I've never seen the variety of results as in this year.

3-3 week for us, which is cause for celebration. Joe Reyes had a big week. I would have never guessed that he would be my most productive rookie.

Dani Salcido picked up his 2nd CG shutout of the year. His performance this year mirrors the team's: inconsistent.

Losing in the DL isn't bad enough for you?

                  SIM 10 - Washington Bats (30-34, 10 GB)
2-1 vs. Missississippippi - Won two convincingly and lost a one-runner.
2-1 vs. New Orleans - Almost swept the Dukes in a series my fans thought was a scrimmage of Bats players.

                  THE GOOD

-- The Arm Looks Fine - Derrek Tucker's first two starts since returning from the DL with forearm tendinitis: 14.1 IP, 3 ER. However, his Ks are down in both but I'm sure it's nothing to worry over.
-- Tag Team - Reliever (LH) Ed Weatherspoon and closer (RH) Jerry Chase have carried an awful bullpen. Chase was given the full-time closer job and has ran with it from day one. Weatherspoon was a late free-agent signing that is proving his weight in gold.

                  THE BAD

-- No Answers For The Rest - This bullpen is awful. Besides Chase and Weatherspoon, every RP is having a sub-BLB average season. They aren't getting overworked, either. I have other options in Triple-A but these guys should all be pitching better.
-- Will He Continue To Fall? - I think Mike Murdock got as high as #3 on the players list last year. This year I think he started top 10. Now he is last on the top list...Sure, that's still great...but he is 29 and asking for a mega-deal. That just went up 15% annually this past sim. Sure, he has been hitting better, on a 16-game hitting streak, and player of the week, but his fall makes me nervous.

                  THE INJURED

-- The Hidden Gem Is Stolen - Recent journeyman Ed Colville was quietly having a career year before he needed decompression surgery on his elbow. Done for the year.
-- No Surprises - Michio Nago got hurt and will miss two weeks. The sky is blue. The grass is green.

                  WHAT'S NEXT?
Pretty far back in the Stout and Wild Card already but we'll take it game by game. Maybe this team can play .500 ball the rest of the way. Three @ Davenport and three @ Philly is a good place to start.

We're creeping closer. Solid 4-2 week. Still no bats, but just enough as the pitching seems legit this year.

Trying to keep pace. Hopefully we can keep holding on until we get Newlin, McDonald, and Hernandez back soon and then at the end of the summer Godron makes his return.

Pawtucket 4-2. Still hanging in 3rd, but considering all the injuries this season not really unhappy.

Past few seasons we tend to make our move in the second half so just wait and see how this plays out.

Lost 2/3 to Washington and then swept Wilmington. My bullpen continues to be gangbusters. If you give me a lead going into the 8th the game is functionally over with Lozano and Reyes cleaning up. These guys have been pretty much unhittable this year. The offense still hasn't hit it stride with Dodson and Rojas still a ways off from where I expect them to be.
