Brewers League Baseball has decided on an expansion plan that will add four teams to the league over the next 3 years. Two teams will be added to the Domestic League after the current 1981 season and two more teams will be added to the Import League after the 1983 season. The playoffs will also expand to 8 teams after the 1983 season.
For the 1981 Expansion, the BLB Owners voted to invite:
chippered
Spectre
Another vote will take place in 1983 to determine two more expansion owners.
Here are the rules we'll be using. These are still considered a draft, so some minor changes may be made.
General
- Add 2 teams to the DL after 1981 and 2 more teams to the IL after 1983
- There will be realignment and the Playoffs expand after 1983.
- Expansion teams will be awarded the 1st and 2nd picks in their first Amateur Draft and their first Rule 5 draft. Draft order will be determined by seperate coin flips and will alternate each round.
Expansion Draft
- The Expansion Draft will occur after Free Agents file, but before the Free Agent signing period begins. Expansion teams will be allowed to make offers to Free Agents like a normal team.
- There will be 3 Expansion Draft "Rounds"
- Round 1 will be 28 picks (14 per expansion team)
- Round 2 will be 28 picks (14 per expansion team)
- Round 3 will be 14 picks (7 per expansion team)
- Current teams protect 15 players plus the last 2 drafts are automatically protected. They can add 3 players to their protection list after each Round.
- Teams can lose no more than 2 players in Round 1, 2 players in Round 2 and 1 player in Round 3. This limits a team's losses to 5 players total.
- Expansion teams will be provided a custom league file with scouts off, and all ratings set to a 1-5 scale for purposes of drafting.
Financials
- Expansion teams will receive the following initial financials:
- Market Size = 1
- Fan Loyalty = 5
- Fan Interest = 100
- Expansion teams can design a Stadium under the same parameters as initial BLB stadium construction.
