  • New Orleans drafts Brit Estes of Rice University at 3.1.

Estes only has two pitches, but our scouts think he has above average stamina, good control, and a willingness to work hard. We didn't think as highly of him as some other offensive players on our board, but he was the last pitcher we liked at all.

    • I'll be interested to see what becomes of Wilmington's pick in this round, Chad Madan. My scout loved all of his ratings....except his 2 eye potential. I've seen one bad eye rating absolutely doom other hitters who are otherwise rated very highly and I'll be interested to see if the same thing happens to Madan.

Same here, although my scout gives him a "3" in potential. I know none of the players will be left by the 7th round, but there are still quite a few top 70 players on my board left, including the #12....a pitcher. But the way my scout has him rated, I know why he's still up there.

I was leaning towards taking him with my pick in this round if he was still there. That eye rating really scared me, but at this point it was going to pretty close to being worth the risk. He had been at the top of my queue for quite a while now.

          • What do you guys think of SS/P Willie Sierra?

We're going to convert him to P right away.

Not keen on his work ethic... but everything else checks out ok.

Damn, I was going to take him and convert him as well. Good luck, I'll be watching.

                • Guess I didn't get my list all set up, but I'm not too unhappy with the auto pick of Vern Campbell. Great control, pretty good stuff. If he could get some better movement we might have a solid starter. Looking at my board, he was probably the best SP prospect still available, though pickings are slim on that front.

                  • Had 2B Jerry Davis all ready to get drafted then of course Jistic drafts him! This draft couldn't be going worse for us.

Last guy I had on my list was RF Zach Thompson, who my scout see's as a top of the lineup type guy. We'll be happy if he makes the BLB as a 4th rounder.

I was very surprised to see him undrafted for this long, thought he was a 2nd rounder for sure.

                          • I feel ya, Brad. I like reading through this thread after the first couple rounds to see what people post, how they're happy they acquired some guy with their pick in the 4th round. Couple seasons later you'll be replacing that guy in your system with some other guy you were happy to pick up in the same round of that year's draft.

Oh shit, Tampa scored. Back to hockey.

No kidding. Thought he'd might slip thru.

                              • Happy with E Garcia for my 3rd rounder. He's rated as an 8/8 SS/2B so hopefully that 5 projection for contact sticks. I need more true SS in my system.

His OSA ratings were similar to my scout, so hopefully he pans out.
