    • The Colonials wrap up Round 1 by going old school by taking a prototypical "early" Maine Guide in HSer Jody Richards.

      His stats suck....

      He's had an injury...

      But.... he's a "Control Freak" despite being a soft-tosser. High GB%. Doesn't walk people. 4 pitches.

I didn't need another Pitcher in my system... but I think he's a Top 50 BA Talent type guy.

Good job on Round 1, Boys.

Round 2 is here. Still 4 hours per on this round. 2 Hour limit kicks off after this.

      • I thought the compensation picks were supposed to be now?

        • Nope.... Comp comes between 2 and 3 now.

The old "salary based" comp picks did. Now that they're easier to get... we moved them to make them slightly less valuable.

          • New Orleans selects CL Wayne Vondracek of the Oregon State Beavers at 2.1.

Despite his CL designation, Vondracek was a very successful starting pitcher at the college level. With a 7 stamina rating, a 73% GB percentage and two 7-ceiling pitches, we are exceedingly hopeful that Wayne will take it upon himself to learn a 3rd pitch. He's apparently pretty lazy, but as the act of learning a 3rd pitch is most likely completely random, we're not too worried about that.

            • Yea, the two pitches probably gives him that CL title, but if he develops two 7 rated pitches, he'd be at the very least a good starter.

I think it's a good gamble. I looked long and hard at him (see Pat in the Men's Room at the club)... but, in the end, got scared off by the two serious shoulder injuries.

Yeah. "Removal of bone chips" is never a great sign, but his injury rating is "OK" and he seems to have retained all of his effectiveness following both injuries. Hopefully he maintains a clean bill of health the rest of the way, but there's no question that there's a lot of risk involved with the pick. But given how quickly the pitching drops off in these drafts, all you can do if you don't take one in the first round is take a bunch and see if any pan out.

Agreed. I got 5 SPs in the BA Top 60 right now and feel like I'll be lucky if one hits.

Kinda regrouping for a second and I'll have my pick in soon.
