Mr. Jistic is now on the clock.......let's see who he's been tracking for "years". I hope it's not the player who is sitting on my atop my big board....nothing worse than a division rival stealing a prospect from you.

        SS Hardin picked at 1.9

I'm not digging this draft at all, there are too many players clumped together and not too many that stand out.

There's about 8 of 'em in the draft. The three we had our eye on were "Fury", Hobbs, and our pick the flamethrower out of Morton West H.S. Marlon Huffman.

We weren't looking to go pitcher in the 1st round but he's too good for us to pass up. He hits triple digits on the radar gun and his K to BB ratio is ridiculous. He's going to need to develop and it will be years but I have to trust the scout who says he's an ace. We probably won't know until the turn of the century.

And hey, if he busts? We can always use him as a pinch runner!

He is the most "high risk/high reward" prospect in the draft. I actually thought he would have been selected by now, however. Nice pick.

We have him as straight 5's and some pretty below average stats the past 4 years. Speed and velocity aside I just don't see it.

He's a project. Very high ceiling. But his teammates hate him, he has a "fragile" tag and by the looks of his last two starts, he's a partier.

Davenport selects SP Rod Phillips from Cal State Fullerton.

Despite the recommendation that he should be in the bullpen, we'll develop him as a starter. With pitch velocity reaching triple digits, we're hoping he can develop a third pitch in the minors, specifically a changeup.

He reminds me a lot of current Brawler - Don Russell, who also throws heat with only two pitches. He's worked out well for us in the rotation and we hope Phillips will be joining him in a few years. We're desperately lacking impact arms in the system.

He is a project. We have him as a 6-5-6 with a 7 for a FB. My scouts comments about him is what swayed me. Our pick last year is rated 8th in the top 100 and his ratings sucked, all 4's and 5's they still do. But he said he would be a star and at least at this point it looks like he's got a chance.

I just didn't want to pass on him and regret it down the road.

The same Don Russell who just blew out his arm? Just sayin'.

My scout thinks Mal Brady is potential HOF. The two previous scouts I had, also loved him. I'll hide him at 1B/LF/C and he's a better fit for the DH-league but man, I'm pretty excited about the selection. D.C. rarely has power hitters and when they do...MAP...they don't last long.

I like Huffman a lot. From what I see, he's got the most potential of any pitcher in the draft. "Fragile" tag worries me a little, but a good pick here for Windy City, unfortunately.

"The Crow" was the best hitter left on the board according to my scout.

                                Good pick, Pat.

"The Crow" would have been my pick at 1.18. Would have turned him into a LF.
