This class has alot of "role" players. Lets say 2 studs I can see. The 90's is truly the generation of slackers without steroids.

I think the one thing (to me) that is clear is that we really don't know yet how these guys will turn out. I think what people are seeing is a small handful of guys that may be "up" in the next season or two. So more "immediate impact" versus actual impact. I think impact is still TBD. I know just speaking from my team... nearly every 1st and 2nd Round pick from the past two seasons are still marinating. I think we've really, really gotten closer to reality in terms of draft impact.

Good question that deserves more time and research, but just taking a quick look back at the premium picks, 1-3 in 1988 has a chance to be really good for a while:

3 came from the 1981 class (Dale O'Hegarty - 4, Kyoden Kubota - 5, Jim Newlin - 7)
2 came from the 1982 class (Dani Alvarez - 2, Victor Gonzalez - 9)
2 came from the 1984 class (Geoff Scott - 3, Finley Kinsley - 6)
1 came from the 1978 class (Mel Woodbury - 1)
1 came from the 1980 class (Pete Miller - 10)
1 came from the 1983 class (Hector Carbajal - 8)

So, in terms of hitters, 1981 was the best of the early drafts. 1979 doesn't show up till #15... so that seems to be a bit of a down year.

Also, Kinsley was a 15th round pick... he must of got a couple of those random talent bumps OOTP used to give out. No way so many people miss out on him.

Toapanta is the only one in the Top 10 not to be a first round pick (3rd round, Pick #1). So, it seems to nab an ace, you have to get them in the first round, and only one exist per draft class.

I know he got at least two... I also remember trying to trade for him before he hit the big time... but I think by that point, you knew he'd be a star.

FYI - I will at work or traveling from 7pm EST Thursday until about 3pm EST Saturday.

I can put a guy in my queue for when the draft starts, but I likely won't be able to fill up a queue that will last me until my 2nd round pick. So I guess I will hope that it doesn't arrive before I come home.
