  • Jerry Davis was one of the few players I actually still have on my list. My scout thinks he has an average bat, "no power whatsoever," "poor plate discipline," and he's an upright runner who is "not particularly fluid" on the basepaths.

Great pick. I really think you got a steal here. I'm sure he will be a fixture at the top of your single- and double-A lineups for years.

    • Everyone believes they found the diamond but OOTP will just crush them to coal. With talent randomness only the top few picks are usually reliable...everyone else is a complete dice roll in this game.

It's awfully bitter in Batavia. ;)

I'm sure he'll work out. He's only been passed over 72 times (including 8 times by you) up til this point. STUD.

            • If I had as many picks as Syracuse, I'd be telling myself the same thing.

                • Make sure we're using Draft Lists and/or Auto where appropriate. Not rushing anyone... just don't want to get to Friday and not be done.

I hate the draft. After getting screwed in those early years by a horrible scout/OOTP dice rolls I rebounded a little but I still cry at night over Chet, Mal, and Pete.

You can't win in this game with just prospects...to many of them just fall on their face. They are great currency in trades though because everyone has dreams of greatness!

                          • It will be a good test and I wish you luck. It didn't work for me as I made it up to #3 at one point. Finally I had to trade the guys I did have for developed stars...or starters at least.

It just seems hard to win in this game hoping that guys develop over time...especially with the theory that the parent club directly relates to minor league development. We fell from #3 to #7...then just kept dropping. Now I look at my minor league teams and they are all playing .600+ ball and I see more current/potential jumps than I ever did. Maybe it's just coaches...or luck...or whatever.

Matt, I totally agree. I think its both (Trades, Prospects) for sure. Clay did a bangup job from what I can see waiting for his chickens to hatch, but I just dont have the patience for it.

Plus if Pawtucket held on to everybody we would of had to field like a team mainly composed of first baseman

                              • I can't believe I got Rich Yslas this late in the draft. I almost took him first overall but decided against it, taking the calculated risk that he would be around in the 4th or 5th round so I could grab him then and tout him as a steal. Looks like the gamble really paid off for me. We'll be talking about this one for years, people.
